What was the first book to make an impression on you? Probably the Irish Racing Form Book as my father always had his nose in it and I kept nagging him to read it to me which he eventually did – what a convoluted let-down that turned out to be! What was your favourite book as a child? Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. I believed it completely, so much so in fact, that I did myself an injury trying to lift a manhole in our back garden.
